Any Qurbani that is performed as a Vaceeb can be performed as a Nafilah as well. Nafilah Qurbani’s are performed according to the means and needs of the performer. It is not a necessity for one to perform Nafilah Qurbani. It is believed and hoped that by performing the Nafilah Qurbani, the owner will be virtous and closer to Allahu SWT. However, there is no responsibility for those who do not perform Nafilah Qurbani.

What can you perform Nafilah Qurbani for?

Nafilah Qurbani is performed for specific intentions of the performer. It can be a Shukur Qurbani for a goal they have set or a blessing they have witnessed, a Sheefa Qurbani for someone who is ill, an Aqiqah Qurbani for a new born or a Nafilah Qurbani for a specific intention.

Who may feast from the Nafilah Qurbani?

The owner, family and anyone else can feast from this Qurbani. The most beneficial act is to donate it. The most virtuous would be to offfer it to Qur’an-I Kareem students.

It is best if the owner can perform this Qurbani on their own. However if they are unable to complete it on their own, they may permit someone to do it on their behalf. The representer will sacrifice the Qurbani for the owners with Besmeleh. If the owner would like for the Qurbani to be performed somewhere that is not immediately accessible to him and donate the remains then he will give his permission to; to purchase, to have it purchased, to slaughter, to have it slaughter and shared – to the representer. Any and all Qurbani in this category will have been given permission from the owner and be slaughtered for his name with Besmeleh.
